Neil McInnes is a visual artist whose career has spanned animation, illustration, graphic design, sculpture, and painting. He has received grants and support from national, provincial, and municipal arts organizations, as well as cultural development agencies.

As founder and operator of independent creative and animation studios in Toronto and Winnipeg, he directed and produced animated television content, educational programming, and commercial work for government, institutional, and private-sector clients. His studio work included the coordination of shooting, camera stand construction, ink and paint, and animation production services for feature, large-format, and award-winning animated films.

His contributions to the animation industry included production support on Academy Award–nominated films, a Genie Award–winning production, and animated work presented at an international world exposition. He also worked as an educator in graphic design and animation.

As an independent filmmaker, McInnes produced and animated several award-winning short films that screened at more than 60 international film festivals, as well as major cultural and exhibition venues internationally.
